Grants for Students
The Erasmus Mundus programme supports high-quality European Masters Courses, by providing attractive grants for students having excellent academic results from around the world (non European and European) to engage in postgraduate study at EMARO institutions. The application to an Erasmus Mundus scholarship is done through the classical student’s application procedure of EMARO. Please note that the number of applications must be limited to three Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses maximum. In the eventual case that a student applies to more than three EM Courses he/she will be excluded from the selection for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.
For 2010-2011 academic year, EMARO Master programme will have three types of scholarships:
- Category A scholarships (application open from 15 October to 15 December 2009):
Ten scholarships with two years each can be awarded to masters students selected by EMARO consortium who are not from Europe
Union states, Iceland, Norway and Lichtenstein, Turkey, Switzerland, Western Balkan Countries include Albania,
Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia and who are not residents
nor have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in
one of these countries.
Owing to the limited number of grants a student who is not ranked among the top 10% of his class has small chance to be
selected. The selected student, will receive a scholarship of totally 24 000€ per year, 8000€ are devoted for tuition fees,
insurance cost and other costs of the master. Thus the student will receive 16000€ net per year.
A proposal to Erasmus Mundus programme in Brussels must be sent on January 2010 and consists of a main list and a waiting list.
At most two students from the same country can be selected in the main list. The final decision about the scholarships will be
sent to students as soon as we receive it from Brussels (end of February). If some students withdraw from the main list, the
best students from the waiting list will be upgraded to the main list and will be notified immediately.
- Western Balkan and Turkey window (application open from 15 October to 10 January 2010):
2 more scholarships of category A are devoted for Balkan Western countries and Turkey citizens. These scholarships have been
announced with some delay, that is why the deadline of application for this window is extended till 10 January 2010.
-
Category B scholarships (application open from 5 January till 30 April 2010).
Starting from the academic year 2010/2011 all the ERASMUS MUNDUS masters will offer new scholarships called category B. These
scholarships are devoted for European students and related countries mentioned in Category A scholarships including western
Balkans countries and Turkey, and also for third country students who had a stay for more than 12 months in these countries.
For the academic year 2010/2011, EMARO Masters programme will offer about 8 Erasmus Mundus scholarships of category B. The
selected student, will receive a scholarship of totally 10 000€ per year, 4000€ are devoted for tuition fees, insurance cost
and other costs of the master. Thus the student will receive 6000€ net per year. It should be noted that, while the Category A
scholarships should be considered as “full scholarships” covering all necessary costs of the student during his/her study
period in Europe, Category B scholarships have to be considered as a “financial contribution” to the student’s costs.
