1. Who can apply for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship ?

Students from all countries can apply for Erasmus Mundus Grant. You have to verify if you belong to category A or category B (See section EMARO GRANTS)

2. What is the number of Erasmus Mundus scholarships?

There are two categories; category A and category B. The number of scholarships for each category changes every year and it is a decision made by the EU Commission, not by the EMARO consortium. In 2010 - 2011 there will be scholarships for category A and 8 scolarships for category B.

3. What an Erasmus Mundus scholarship covers?

The amount of money awarded to Erasmus Mundus scholarship recipients enrolled in the Master EMARO is fixed to 24,000 € NET per year for category A students and 10,000 €/year for category B students. This money may be applied to programme tuition fees, living costs, books, etc. Students receiving a scholarship are automatically and free of charge covered by an insurance scheme against risks related to health, accidents, death, permanent invalidity and civil responsibility. The insurance cover takes effect on the start of the "Erasmus Mundus" Masters Course in which the student is enrolled and is valid until the end of the course. The beginning of the insurance can be anticipated by maximum 2 months if the student arrives earlier to the destination country and the end of the insurance may be postponed of maximum 3 months if the student stays longer. Further details on the conditions of the insurance scheme can be found on the following website:
http://ec.europa.eu/education/programmes/mundus/insurance_en.html

4. Does Erasmus Mundus scholarship cover the plane ticket and the visa cost?

  • No.

5. Enrolled in another Erasmus Mundus Course : I am already enrolled in another Erasmus Mundus Master programme, can I apply for emaro scholarship?

Two cases are considered:

  • If you have been awarded an Erasmus Mundus scholarship: the answer is NO. It would be considered a breach of the previous contract: you would break the commitment made with the other Consortium and the European Union, therefore you will not be eligible.
  • If you have not been awarded an Erasmus Mundus scholarship: the answer is YES.

6. Erasmus Mundus Multiple applications: Can I apply to different Erasmus Mundus scholarships?

Yes but at most 3 courses otherwise your application will be disqualified by the E.U. If admitted in two or three masters, you must select one as soon as possible.
