2. Documents: Certified, Photocopies or originals?

You should send only certified photocopies of original documents. We need an officially notarized (by the educational institution, the embassy/consulate, a notary, or a translation office) copy of your information plus a translation in English. If the translation is notarized, the copy of the original does not have to be notarized. Documents will not be returned back for the students. If the student is selected he must bring the originals with him for registration in the consortium institutions.

3. Deadline date of receiving the postal documents?

- The documents must be received 10 days at most after the application deadline date.

4. I do not have a passport yet. How can I complete my application ?

You WILL be required to get a passport later. However, for the application you can upload a citizenship-identifying identity card. In order to be considered for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship, we absolutely need a copy of a document certifying your country of citizenship. With no passport, put another document that fulfils this purpose in its place.

5. I am going to graduate after the deadline. Can I apply ?

Yes you can if you expect to graduate before July 31, 2010 for non european students (or 31 September 2010 for European students). You must submit some official confirmation letter of your university. A simple letter stating an expected graduation date is what we require. It should have department letterhead and/or an official university seal and signature. All the missing papers have to be handed in as soon as they are ready. The final admission will be dependent on the achievement of the needed degrees.

6. Enrolled in another Master Course : I am already enrolled in another Master Programme,  Can I apply for emaro?

Yes but if you want to apply also for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, see the conditions in the corresponding section (FAQ Erasmus Mundus Scholarships).

7. Can I apply either by mail or on-line?

An application submitted only by mail will not be considered at all. In the same order an application submitted only online will not be considered. We need the documents to be online, because we have 3 participating institutions that all are on the acceptance committee. Paper documents are only used by one office to confirm the validity of the online documents.

8. My application (or my reference letters) will not be complete before the deadline. May I have an extension?

The deadlines officially are our cut-off dates for applications to be guaranteed the fairest consideration for our programs and scholarships. Applications received very shortly after the deadline are likely to be given the same consideration, but we can no longer guarantee it. The best advice is to have as complete an application as possible on the day of the deadline, but do not worry if one of your referees is two days late with the letter. So please do not hold back your application because you have one extra document you are trying to add to your CV.

9. What do you mean by a certified copy?

This question has many answers due to the international nature of our programs. In general, we require a copy (not an original, because the documents will not be returned) made by an official source authorized to make a copy of the document in question. This official source for the copy varies depending on country. For instance, copies of university documents in the United States are the duty of the university notary with a university seal. Meanwhile, the Police normally certify copies of university documents in France. In other countries, one pays for a licensed notary or possibly a government office. Due to this diversity, we do not have a single standard, but require a certification from an appropriately qualified, official, and confirmable source.

10. Should I send all my documents to Nantes irrelevant of the university I would like to join?

Yes, all documents must be sent to the Ecole Centrale de Nantes.
